Playtime (run around and wear yourselves out time)

The kids had a ton of energy and had a grand old time running everywhere and generally exhausting themselves. :)

Taking a little rest.

Anne walks over to check out what Brad is up to--notice the "purse" she is carrying around. She puts that on her arm and does not take it off for hours on end. Maybe I should get her a real one!

At the Mall

I also took Ben to Southpoint Mall in Durham. It's huge, with great stores inside and then a whole bunch of stores outside, along with a movie theater and a huge play area for kids. I think it's better than Tyson's, but Doug likes to disagree with me about that!

Look at the camera, Brad!

You're so silly, Uncle Ben!

Ben got his workout in carrying Brad all around the mall--he wanted Uncle Ben to carry him everywhere!

Uncle Ben and Anne

Anne was a little reluctant to go to Uncle Ben at first, but she soon remembered him. By the end of his visit, she wanted him to carry her everywhere!

Anne had a little trouble sitting still while waiting for the ride to begin. Ben gets lots of gold stars for keeping her calm!

Checking those texts!

Uncle Ben gets a LOT of text messages. I was on the other side of the park with Anne and caught him checking his texts while pushing Brad!

Brad was in the baby swings because...I'm not sure why! I think he likes being silly.

Pullen Park (again)

Uncle Ben was in town last week and we took the kids to Pullen Park. They just started placing advertisements in the park...I'm not sure what I think of that...but Brad enjoyed "riding" the train. Anne is trying to get up with Brad.

Anne stands triumphantly, having climbed up by herself.

Anne's turn! Brad's on to bigger and better things.

Anne drank three glasses of water before dinner!

I think Brad is ready. We had a wonderful dinner of Weiner schnitzel, parsley potatoes, and broccoli...

...followed by this delectable dessert. I think everyone had seconds!

I think you're a little big for that....

To my family...

...and by family, I mean sister #2 who bugs me all the time about posting.

I have a backlog of pictures and currently have posts scheduled through September 4th. This obviously does not include pictures that will be taken this week when Mom visits. So be patient, enjoy the pictures, and though you may not get to see Ben right this second (as you've been bugging me about every time we talk), take comfort in the fact that there will be a constant stream of posts for the foreseeable future.

Hmmm, what does this button do?

Okay, this is fun!

Look at me, Mommy!

Dinner at Oma's

Uh-Oh! The Grandpa monster has Anne!

Anne helps Oma set the table.

Saturday, August 23, 2008

They are two of a kind! And yes, Anne is drinking from a cup and not using a straw any more. Miss Independent just decided one day to start taking her straw out of her cup, so now we don't give her one--I can't believe she's getting so big.

Silly Grandpa

Dad did this once with Brad and then the kids wanted him to do it again and again. I think he spent just as much holding kids upside down as he did grilling and eating!

What's going on here? My turn!

Anne's turn!

Everyone is fascinated by the grilling. Except for Anne--I'm not sure what she's looking at.

Grandpa came to visit this weekend, so we'll have some pictures of him and the kids. He and Oma came for dinner on Thursday, so of course I put him to work grilling!

I had just asked the kids who wanted to go to the park, and Brad put up his hand and said, "Me!" Then Anne, who does everything her brother does, did the same thing. I wanted to get a picture of the two of them together, but Anne was too interested in the camera to stay in that position.

Anne is fascinated with my shoes right now. Here she has my organ shoes--she's actually really good at getting them on all by herself and walking around!

Doug bought a Furminator to try and control the shedding that goes on at our house. Benjamin is the worst, and this is what I got from him after just a few minutes of brushing. He can only stand about 15 minutes before his patience runs out and he tries to bite me. This is probably only half of what I could get from him if he let me.

Those stepping stones, by the way, I got for $2.50 each at a Lifeway store. They were 75% off, and I also got two really nice pots for some plants for $5 each (again, 75% off). I'm not sure what to do with them, which is why they are on the deck, but I'll think of something!

What's wrong with this picture?

Brad is helping Anne with her puzzle, and Anne accidentally knocked over the train and is putting it back on the track.

Why we usually don't have PB&J for lunch:

Because Anne likes to take her sandwich apart and lick up the peanut butter and jelly.

Big Brother, Little Sister

Brad is reading Anne her favorite book.

Now she's moved into his lap for a better view, but his arms aren't quite long enough to get that book around front!

It's not just the blanket...

On Sunday we went to visit our friend, Miss Kay. She has about ten times as many trains and tracks as we do (and I thought we had a lot!), and ever since then Brad has been asking me when we can go back!

She also gave the kids Pooh Bears, and now, along with her blanket, Miss Anne does not go anywhere without her Pooh Bear. It is very soft, so I don't blame her.

Anne also brings the book with the butterfly inside (pictured above) anywhere she can. She loves to sit in my lap and have me read it to her over and over again! So here she has everything a girl could want: blanket, Pooh Bear, book, apples, and Swiffer.

Before Bed

I told him that after he finished these two puzzles it would be time to read books and head to bed. He doesn't (yet) understand that the slower he goes, the longer he gets to stay up!

Little girls should be....wrapped?...and not heard

You can see she's got her thumb in her mouth in both pictures. Along with the blanket, she likes to suck her thumb all day long.

Anne and the Blanket: A Love Story

This girl is seriously attached to this blanket. We don't go anywhere without it, though she is occasionally persuaded to leave it in her room during bathtime. :)
