Please Pray

We went to the doctor this morning for Anne's 15-month checkup and a general concern about Brad.

Brad has been doing some pretty heavy snoring over the past month, and may have sleep apnea. We were referred to an ENT, and he has an appointment on Wednesday the 9th. Our ped told us the ENT may want to do a sleep study, which is where Brad sleeps at the facility and they monitor him. Plus, the ped says his tonsils are a "+3", with the biggest being "+4", meaning his tonsils and/or adenoids may need to come out. So please pray that they figure out what is going on with him and it can be resolved with as little surgery as possible.

Anne was there only for her regular 15-month checkup (she's now 25 lb, 7 oz and 32 1/2 inches, putting her in the 97th percentile for weight and 99th for height). But the doctor noticed her right eye is not moving with her left eye all the time--there are times when it is slower to follow the left eye.

What does this mean? Left unchecked, the eyes send two different signals to the brain. The brain gets confused and starts ignoring the right eye, eventually leading to blindness in that eye. It takes a long time for this to happen, and generally if you catch this before the age of five, corrective measures can be taken.

So Anne has an appointment on Monday the 14th to get that eye checked. The ped said the treatment would probably involve taping the left eye shut to force the right eye to gain some strength.

Please pray that Anne's eyesight would not be affected and that all would be well with both children.

We'll keep you updated.
