New Orthotics and Shoes

Brad is now on his third pair of orthotics (and will probably be wearing them for another two years or so) and his third pair of shoes. I've kept all his old pairs--let me just say it's a good thing we have great health insurance. You're looking at $5,000 worth of plastic, baby!

5000$??? What on earth are they for? They look like snowboarder boots.

He was born with a spinal cord deformity (spina bifida occulta) and although the defect was repaired, his muscles and nerves do not have the feelings they should. So his ankles bend inward and need to be straightened. If we can't get them to straighten out he'll have to have surgery.
