Brad's consolation prize (as in, sorry we won't be spending any more time with you now that you have a sister) was a train set that I knew he would love. I gave it to him this morning and he spent the entire day playing with it. I've never seen him concentrate so hard on one thing for so long. It's the best investment I've made in a long time!

Brad is just fascinated with "Baby Anne." He gets upset when he's not allowed to hold Anne or when she has to take a nap. He loves to point out all of her parts: "nose" "eye" "hair." And he likes to give her kisses because he gets lots of applause from us when he does.

Just a quick post (yes, I'm writing this from my hospital bed using wireless internet!) to let you know that Barbara Anne Baker has arrived. Anne was born at 2:52pm on 12/28/06 via emergency c-section after almost 24 hours of labor. She weighed in at 9 pounds even and is 20.4 inches long.

Finally!

I have finally been given an induction date of December 27th, one week from today. You would not believe what I went through to get scheduled, even though three different doctors told me it would be "no problem" to schedule me for the 26th. And apparently the hospital schedules seven inductions but only actually does four--I'll get a call the day before letting me know if I've made the cut! Oh well--at this point, I'm just grateful to be scheduled, though I'm still hoping to go into labor on my own.

Ever since the doctor practically promised me on Tuesday that she'd see me in the hospital imminently, I've been on pins and needles, pointlessly, as it turns out, since you can see it's Saturday and I'm still here posting blog entries.

Where is this child?!

The best thing that's all done is Doug's classes at Johns Hopkins. He finished his last paper of the semester last night. The only coursework he has left is his thesis next semester, which, if you know Doug, you know will be a breeze for him to put together. It's very exciting that he's so close to the finish line. I'm not sure which ceremony we'll go to (there is one large one and one the next day where you walk across the stage--I'm guessing we'll go to that one), but we'll definitely be there May 17th and 18th--if you're in town that weekend let us know!

In the meantime, while you wait for a picture of Anne, here's one of Doug and Brad. Brad's new thing is "Ear?" which means he wants Doug to pretend to eat his ear.

I love my job!

I think I post this about once a year: I love my job! It's not a great idea to post about your job on the internet, so let's just say I enjoy what I do and I have a great boss. I couldn't ask for a better work situation for this season of my life.

Oh, and I'm still having the Braxton-Hicks contractions and I'm still miserable. So nothing new on the pregnancy front.

I haven't posted in awhile for a number of reasons: I've been sick, I've been trying to finish up end of the year stuff at work, and today in particular I've had a LOT of Braxton-Hicks contractions. Very distracting. I probably won't update very much until Anne is born.
