If you can understand this, you're ready to be Brad's mom...

Today we got up and had 'toh' for breakfast. Then Brad got out his 'tans' before deciding he wanted to eat some 'rains.' Soon after he got distracted by a 'pooher,' which he wanted to play with, but Mommy said no. Then he saw the 'mihmins' on the counter and wanted one, so we had one of those.

If you get all these right, you and I need to talk!

This kid

Doug took Brad out for one of their "Brad and Dad" days after church today. From what I hear, great fun was had by all. And when they returned Brad was in such a silly mood! He thought everything was funny, which makes for some nice pictures.

By the way, I'd like you all to know that Brad has a Blackberry problem. No, we haven't gotten him a handheld device (we both agree we should wait until he turns three)--he LOVES the berries. He would eat a whole container at a time if we would let him. And when Doug walked him down that aisle in the grocery store, Brad practically threw himself out of the cart trying to get the "beers," as he calls them. That little black spot on his chin is evidence of this new passion.

Blissfully ignorant of what's going to happen in December when he'll no longer be the center of the universe.

Maybe he has an inkling.

And the baby is...

What do you think?

We're so pleased! Anne looks wonderful: her spine, heart, and brain all look good, and she's measuring right where she should be for a Christmas baby. So we dashed out to Carter's to take advantage of their $3.99 sale for summer next year... :)

It's never too early to get them started!

Related, and slightly funny story: Last night I was making lasagna for dinner and Brad was running around the house, generally unsupervised. I glanced around and noticed both cats crouched around a chair in the living room, which was a bit unusual, given that I had just fed them and expected them to be eating. Upon further investigation I discovered Brad taking handfuls of cat food out of their dish and transporting it to the general chair area, leaving a trail behind him.

Oh well. At least it was cat food, which meant I didn't have to worry about vacuuming the mess...the cats ate it right up.

Eating Grandma's cookies

This kid ate almost a whole nectarine, 1/2 cup of broccoli, and 1/2 of a tilapia fillet. So we decided to just this once, let him have one of Grandma's cookies. He liked it, and as you can see in the last picture, is already demanding more. He finished the cookie and then ate a bunch of grapes and blueberries. I think he may have been hungry...

Just Peachy

Sorry, I couldn't resist! Brad was sitting on my lap near the table when he just grabbed this peach off the fruit basket and took a bite.

Quick Recovery

Saturday night Brad ate a huge dinner and ran around the house, pulling out toys and having a grand old time. Sunday morning he was hot, clingy, and very sick. He lay on Doug and I and looked miserable, refusing all food and only taking a tiny bit of water. We got an after-hours appointment with the doctor, where we found out his fever was 102.4 degrees and his tonsils were red and pussy. Poor baby.

It wasn't strep, just a virus, so the doctor advised Tylenol and Motrin, and plenty of fluids. So we gave him Tylenol and that evening it was obvious he felt better, though he did come quickly crashing down around bedtime. But he slept well last night and woke up very chipper this morning. He's only eaten blueberries and strawberries today, but his fever is almost gone and he seems to be doing quite well. It amazes me how quickly kids bounce back.
