Yes, he's attempting to eat the fridge

A lunch story

It started with this. I had just given a huge bite of spinach and salmon to Brad when...

he picked up a nectarine slice and crammed it into his mouth along with the spinach. He proceeded to cough furiously at the same time that...

Noah reached a paw up to the table and knocked the bowl to the floor, because after all, why should Brad get all the salmon? But don't worry. Our story has a happy ending:

Isn't this the way every meal should end?

Post-MRI News

It looks like the issues surrounding Brad's spinal cord are not completely resolved. While the surgery was successful in releasing the tether itself, it did not, nor was it intended to, address the other problems. The cord itself is narrower than it should be in certain places, making it weak (so no pro-football playing!). There's nothing to be done about that, and it shouldn't present problems.

A more serious concern is that the cord itself is short. Many people don't realize this (I didn't either before the surgery) but the end of the spinal cord is not attached to anything--it's like a tree trunk with dangling roots. The roots are not (and should not be) attached to anything. In Brad's case, the cord itself is was attached (but released during surgery), and is currently short, which means it doesn't dangle down as far as it should and may be causing bladder problems of which we are unaware. Obviously we won't be able to tell for sure until it's potty-training time, at which point we'll be able to tell whether another surgery is warranted or not.

So we're in a wait-and-see holding pattern right now, which is probably good for us spiritually as we keep trusting God. He brought us through one surgery and He will always provide for us.

A Shoe Story

Hey Mom, what's this thing Daddy left on the floor?

Let me see how it tastes.

Eh, it could use some salt.

Yeah, I'm done with this.
